Visiting Assistant Professor of French

Position Description

The School of Modern Languages in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of French beginning in August 2018. This position is full-time with a 2/2 teaching load and is renewable for up to two years.

The successful candidate will have (1) a PhD in hand by August 2018; (2) native-level competence in French; (3) an active research and publication agenda; and (4) documented evidence of successful instruction in teaching French from introductory language courses to upper-level, content-based courses. The candidate will join a vibrant French Program, which offers undergraduate majors and minors in French. Possible areas for interdisciplinary collaboration in teaching and research include but are not limited to applied linguistics, media, science and technology studies, digital humanities, intercultural communication, industry, and business. Involvement in one of the School’s intensive summer study abroad programs LBAT: Languages for Business and Technology may be a possibility.

The School Of Modern Languages / Our Degree Programs

The School of Modern Languages emphasizes interactive learning and interdisciplinary study of languages and cultures. We offer an innovative B.S. degree in Applied Languages and Intercultural Studies (ALIS) as well as degrees in Global Economics and Modern Language (GEML) and International Affairs and Modern Languages (IAML). We are currently preparing to launch a Master’s program in Applied Languages and Intercultural studies and are planning an interdisciplinary MS in Global Media Cultures. The school is home to approximately 60 full- and part-time faculty members.
